Episurf's MRI protocol
Episurf has developed a specific MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scanning protocol that uses 2D and 3D scanning sequences to get a detailed view of your knee. The 2D sequences, also called diagnostic scans, enable us to look at the damages to your cartilage and underlying bone. The 3D sequence makes it possible to produce a virtual 3D model of your knee, to display how the knee is formed. The combination of the 2D and 3D sequences makes it possible for the Episurf team to design the patient-specific Episealer implant and surgical instrumentation that fits the patient's damage and knee anatomy perfectly.
MRI uses powerful magnetic fields to let your physician see the inside of your knee joint without making a surgical incision. A highly advanced MR scanning program produces a detailed reconstruction of your knee, including details regarding e.g. bones, cartilage, tendons, muscles, blood vessels and ligaments.
